I am not going to name the fractions, but you should be able to guess them. The top photos are just of the banners, and a boss with flags added. The photos below are of the 10 boy mob. Now I have counted up all of the MJ Orcs I have, and it turns out to be 110. I have 11 full mobs of 10 boys each. I still have more MJ Orcs just not boys.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-x6N9dyclUSA/UwkxEF_Uv8I/AAAAAAAAL58/PLPH9ZzTd64/s1600/IMG-20140222-00114.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-x6N9dyclUSA/UwkxEF_Uv8I/AAAAAAAAL58/PLPH9ZzTd64/s1600/IMG-20140222-00114.jpg" height="199" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GM0gYyqZTbk/UwkxEpJ8fwI/AAAAAAAAL6E/KzxnTjTEyhY/s1600/IMG-20140222-00115.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GM0gYyqZTbk/UwkxEpJ8fwI/AAAAAAAAL6E/KzxnTjTEyhY/s1600/IMG-20140222-00115.jpg" height="194" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZNO-n41pkUY/UwkxFfUXYhI/AAAAAAAAL6M/N9fABVXFHNE/s1600/IMG-20140222-00116.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZNO-n41pkUY/UwkxFfUXYhI/AAAAAAAAL6M/N9fABVXFHNE/s1600/IMG-20140222-00116.jpg" height="188" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HeCD4PzL-FY/UwkxF_cKLNI/AAAAAAAAL6U/f2gkAtYnsMk/s1600/IMG-20140222-00118.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HeCD4PzL-FY/UwkxF_cKLNI/AAAAAAAAL6U/f2gkAtYnsMk/s1600/IMG-20140222-00118.jpg" height="207" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uzXxMepYmJ4/UwkxGsuaG1I/AAAAAAAAL6c/d7rxekLVKRA/s1600/IMG-20140222-00119.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uzXxMepYmJ4/UwkxGsuaG1I/AAAAAAAAL6c/d7rxekLVKRA/s1600/IMG-20140222-00119.jpg" height="215" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ykp0kyWRFB0/UwkxH2tC-rI/AAAAAAAAL6k/UIGg_fL5kwM/s1600/IMG-20140222-00120.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ykp0kyWRFB0/UwkxH2tC-rI/AAAAAAAAL6k/UIGg_fL5kwM/s1600/IMG-20140222-00120.jpg" height="201" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oA-PPe44OEQ/UwkxKjdI39I/AAAAAAAAL6s/YVT1rvFPnoE/s1600/IMG-20140222-00121.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oA-PPe44OEQ/UwkxKjdI39I/AAAAAAAAL6s/YVT1rvFPnoE/s1600/IMG-20140222-00121.jpg" height="227" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PxFNng2TKh4/UwkxLtifNZI/AAAAAAAAL60/hVGgse24ptc/s1600/IMG-20140222-00123.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PxFNng2TKh4/UwkxLtifNZI/AAAAAAAAL60/hVGgse24ptc/s1600/IMG-20140222-00123.jpg" height="186" width="320" /></a></div><br />Wesley Camphttps://plus.google.com/109909254088111064611noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2014042740068884319.post-81302993026408495962014-01-25T14:27:00.002-05:002014-01-25T14:27:51.386-05:00Work Bench January post.Hello World, it is I Noel here with another Blog post.......<br />Well it has been a while, and I have not had much me time to play, but I have squeezed some in or the past two weeks. I have been working on my 28mm Fantasy stuff for SBH, and here are 4 beast-men I have painted up. I ran out of my normal flesh colour paint and tried a new brand, of flesh. It is a not anything close to my old colour. I do like it for the beasts. You will see them side by side in the last two photos. As all ways click for a larger view. Now I know in the photos they look like I spent hours on them, but no! I have been loving the dip method, and the prof is in the minis. These are simple quick paint jobs, no shading or inks, some light dry brushing. I dipped them in polyshades, then sprayed with dull coat. Now the one on the right in the photo just below is one I painted a long time ago, and not part of this bunch of 4. I am very happy with them, and look forward to finishing the bases.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HiKulSxYXIc/UuQMoeaTDMI/AAAAAAAALzg/G0r4uK7NWZU/s1600/IMG-20140125-00099.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HiKulSxYXIc/UuQMoeaTDMI/AAAAAAAALzg/G0r4uK7NWZU/s1600/IMG-20140125-00099.jpg" height="188" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IOXg9kRVW-I/UuQMpNVz8QI/AAAAAAAALzo/-LgeR5cf9CA/s1600/IMG-20140125-00100.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IOXg9kRVW-I/UuQMpNVz8QI/AAAAAAAALzo/-LgeR5cf9CA/s1600/IMG-20140125-00100.jpg" height="276" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-q19KaT6U4Qs/UuQMpo48A-I/AAAAAAAALzw/whnNikBY07w/s1600/IMG-20140125-00101.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-q19KaT6U4Qs/UuQMpo48A-I/AAAAAAAALzw/whnNikBY07w/s1600/IMG-20140125-00101.jpg" height="297" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NfKRkyuyQJQ/UuQMqqyJYvI/AAAAAAAALz8/9b5xaWOAA98/s1600/IMG-20140125-00103.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NfKRkyuyQJQ/UuQMqqyJYvI/AAAAAAAALz8/9b5xaWOAA98/s1600/IMG-20140125-00103.jpg" height="202" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Y-1ADApRwlI/UuQMqBEE57I/AAAAAAAALz0/J9d0g6yv_iI/s1600/IMG-20140125-00102.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Y-1ADApRwlI/UuQMqBEE57I/AAAAAAAALz0/J9d0g6yv_iI/s1600/IMG-20140125-00102.jpg" height="215" width="400" /></a></div>Wesley Camphttps://plus.google.com/109909254088111064611noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2014042740068884319.post-5278326196715600462013-09-29T13:25:00.001-04:002013-10-21T09:34:29.565-04:00Orc Truck kit bash from a just a chassis.<span style="color: red;">Update 10\21\2013 scroll to the bottom for the final photos of this truck.</span><br /><br />From my last post here is my here is the base chassis. I had a front bumper, and push bar in my bitz box. I came up with tires, see my last post.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Bp3VjwHNVgQ/UkAylaL7nzI/AAAAAAAALJc/YMG9bPDmNBI/s1600/IMG-20130301-00061.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="211" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Bp3VjwHNVgQ/UkAylaL7nzI/AAAAAAAALJc/YMG9bPDmNBI/s320/IMG-20130301-00061.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So now that I have the base, I need to find some more bitz and make a truck out of it. I had some plastic card stock fro the bed bottom.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8qBcP44o6jc/UkgNlofEh4I/AAAAAAAALLo/aSlBJIdtnvU/s1600/IMG_2251.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="314" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8qBcP44o6jc/UkgNlofEh4I/AAAAAAAALLo/aSlBJIdtnvU/s320/IMG_2251.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">With the bed I needed sides. Back to the bitz box. Lucky for me I have a ton of old IG tank bitz, and the first item used was a hunter killer launch box. I use one for each bed side. The I added hatch covers for the sides. I also used the hatch covers for a bed extension.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tOxnYUeL-s0/UkgNhM_1UxI/AAAAAAAALLM/1WhjukIGFHw/s1600/IMG_2247.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="151" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tOxnYUeL-s0/UkgNhM_1UxI/AAAAAAAALLM/1WhjukIGFHw/s320/IMG_2247.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nXRLma1Nf7I/UkgNjehZRdI/AAAAAAAALLc/nHDwmH3IxII/s1600/IMG_2249.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nXRLma1Nf7I/UkgNjehZRdI/AAAAAAAALLc/nHDwmH3IxII/s320/IMG_2249.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Better view of damage.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_GUjdovpK9o/UkgNgYsYDmI/AAAAAAAALLE/9_xiJracmfg/s1600/IMG_2246.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="173" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_GUjdovpK9o/UkgNgYsYDmI/AAAAAAAALLE/9_xiJracmfg/s320/IMG_2246.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Here you can see I added a boost to the engine, and some NOS tanks. Also you can see I have some really bad welding on the bed, and sides. Lets face it, this is a total scrap job.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7qq5EUnXmo8/UkgNoHyIX4I/AAAAAAAALL4/z9MSm6Mc4kM/s1600/IMG_2253.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="268" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7qq5EUnXmo8/UkgNoHyIX4I/AAAAAAAALL4/z9MSm6Mc4kM/s320/IMG_2253.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dYud_Tm3zUw/UkgNipTLpZI/AAAAAAAALLU/KqNUhiHV-xk/s1600/IMG_2248.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dYud_Tm3zUw/UkgNipTLpZI/AAAAAAAALLU/KqNUhiHV-xk/s320/IMG_2248.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Now time for the front, I need to add some bitz, and damage. See the kannon behind the driver, as well as the bullet hole, and a hole corner taken out. Also added a spare tire.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LX4v_nQcYNA/UkgNm9i1y4I/AAAAAAAALL0/c_VFvQJ9MAc/s1600/IMG_2252.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="284" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LX4v_nQcYNA/UkgNm9i1y4I/AAAAAAAALL0/c_VFvQJ9MAc/s320/IMG_2252.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RtoECyHe0Ok/UkgNkXmiuvI/AAAAAAAALLk/zRzh-liC8yg/s1600/IMG_2250.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="271" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RtoECyHe0Ok/UkgNkXmiuvI/AAAAAAAALLk/zRzh-liC8yg/s320/IMG_2250.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Here is a side by side with a stock truck, and this one.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZyCzbjjfUaQ/UkgNdqiDNiI/AAAAAAAALKs/P_7eeXEloEg/s1600/IMG_2243.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="219" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZyCzbjjfUaQ/UkgNdqiDNiI/AAAAAAAALKs/P_7eeXEloEg/s320/IMG_2243.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hDGrJPo2rlE/UkgNeoMsIqI/AAAAAAAALK0/MAobeGnLAas/s1600/IMG_2244.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="160" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hDGrJPo2rlE/UkgNeoMsIqI/AAAAAAAALK0/MAobeGnLAas/s320/IMG_2244.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">UPDATE!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I primed the truck and want to add the photos. This group deals with people selling or trading their unwanted miniature stuff. Well this one email hit me right in the wallet. "Selling Gorka Morka bits", well I quickly replied and the were at my house in no time.<br /><br />This was mostly bits of boys, but there was one chassis in the mix. It only had the base, and the cockpit assembled, nothing else. I went to my bits box and found a push bar, front plate (grill), and the plate for behind the driver, and gunner. So I have the starts of a new vehicle. All I need now was some tires, and a bed for the vehicle.<br /><br />So I took out my <a href="https://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/tools-and-misc/instant-mold.html" target="_blank">Instant mold</a>, and two tires from one of my other vehicles and got to work. Heating up some water in the microwave and dropping in the Instant Mold to make it soft, I then placed it over the tires to make the molds. After this I filled the molds with water putty, to see what the final cast would look like, and was happy. Next I filled the molds with <a href="http://www.rcslot.com/pc-radio-control-slot-cars/JBW8237.html?gclid=CL3WjNDl4bkCFZCd4AodrX8ANA" target="_blank">JB Weld Plastic putty</a>, I got from Home Depot cheap.<br />Here are the photos.<br /><br />In this photo you see the original tire on the right, the mold in the middle, the water putty test tire in the front, and the finished tire in the left mounted.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DUEWyzK6q4w/UkAyw9t0nCI/AAAAAAAALJ0/8NrkoVM7pXE/s1600/IMG-20130301-00064.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="226" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DUEWyzK6q4w/UkAyw9t0nCI/AAAAAAAALJ0/8NrkoVM7pXE/s320/IMG-20130301-00064.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This photo shows the original next to the finished tire.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-deu-Z6HpX7Y/UkAyo9TOwqI/AAAAAAAALJk/lsrRAxTno_k/s1600/IMG-20130301-00062.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="165" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-deu-Z6HpX7Y/UkAyo9TOwqI/AAAAAAAALJk/lsrRAxTno_k/s320/IMG-20130301-00062.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The front tires were a bit off but I am ok with that, as it make the trukk look like it has seen some action.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3qNNBgPyVsk/UkAysV5pU9I/AAAAAAAALJs/ejoHjdb_E_M/s1600/IMG-20130301-00063.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="170" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3qNNBgPyVsk/UkAysV5pU9I/AAAAAAAALJs/ejoHjdb_E_M/s320/IMG-20130301-00063.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This photo is the chassis ready from more parts.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Bp3VjwHNVgQ/UkAylaL7nzI/AAAAAAAALJc/YMG9bPDmNBI/s1600/IMG-20130301-00061.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="211" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Bp3VjwHNVgQ/UkAylaL7nzI/AAAAAAAALJc/YMG9bPDmNBI/s320/IMG-20130301-00061.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: xx-small;"><i>Disclaimer:</i> The tires are not produced for resale, only to complete a kit, with parts that are out of production OOP. Well they are now done!!!!! This is now my first completely painted SBH warband. Now I still have 3 more to paint.<br />I started this warband years ago for Mordhiem, but could not get me head around the color scheme for Ratz. I took the plunge and just started painting my 10 year old Ratz. I think they came out great using the block, and dip method, and that may have been my problem painting them. See I have been out of 28mm painting for so many years, and did not go back to my old ways. So getting this warband done has helped me start my next warband, the Hunters of Evil.<br /><br />So here is the hole warband, in an old Modrhiem building, not the best lighting on the photos.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I started this based on a Mordhiem skaven warband, and they were mostly slingers, and the minis I had for the slings were very old GW skaven. So with SBH, the slings did not satat out that well, so I am going with throwers (daggers, stars, and the like). I have one sling thrower, and 3 dagger throwers. That mixed with the brawlers, and my leader I think this is a great warband.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I have put this warband to the test VS my Hunters, and they kicked but.......</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Noel </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>Wesley Camphttps://plus.google.com/109909254088111064611noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2014042740068884319.post-83267000593579009952013-07-15T07:59:00.000-04:002013-07-15T08:00:38.407-04:00Ratz........Well it has been over a month without a post from me, so here is what I have been doing. About three weeks ago I switched gears (as I often do) and picked up my SBH stuff again. If you do not know SBH is Song Of Blades and Heroes a fast play Skirmish game. I have replaced Mordhiem with SBH. So in making this switch I have moved back to my 28mm miniatures, and started to paint them. I have 4 war bands, and decided to work on my Ratz. Now I had a war band all picked out, and minis for each member, but I did not like my sling throwers, as they were very old GW plastic, I am talking late 80s, early 90s static posed ratz. Remembering I still had a few un-assembled Mordhiem Ratz to build, I decided to replace the old ones with new ones. Last weekend I got started with rebuilding my Ratz Warband. My Old War band had four sling throwers, and I replaced three of them with throwing weapon Ratz, shorter range but a bit higher combat stat.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zeMj4Hqi4yI/UePeMKBnQcI/AAAAAAAAJ_E/KYYg_HFb4EA/s1600/Capture.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="230" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zeMj4Hqi4yI/UePeMKBnQcI/AAAAAAAAJ_E/KYYg_HFb4EA/s400/Capture.PNG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div>Now that I had it on paper, I started on completing the minis. I put the missing minis together, and primed them up. Yesterday I set to painting them, and completed 4, plus finished the leader.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GFZkV3zbZs8/UePaIVsLIEI/AAAAAAAAJ8Y/stIOzoYcqMY/s1600/IMG_2170.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; I have switched to faster painting method, as I have given up on making show stopper paint jobs. I want my minis for play, and they just need to be play ready. So I paint them in a simple block painting with very little highlight, and no shading, or inks. Then I dip them. I am very happy with how they have come out , and with the dip method. I know it is hard to see in the photos, but for the rusted armor look I have mixed sliver with a touch of bronze, but I did not mix it well. By leaving it unmixed it painted on blotchy, and this gave me the rusted armor look, quickly.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I hope you like them.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Noel.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><br /></div>Wesley Camphttps://plus.google.com/109909254088111064611noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2014042740068884319.post-48933893491424520292013-06-09T16:35:00.003-04:002013-06-09T16:35:49.642-04:00Space Orcs in the works.I read this week that the #1 product on 15mm UK is the Space Vikings, and well I just painted 4 of their Space Orcs. I also just finished a squad of GZG Mercs.<br /><br />I have painted the 15mm UK Orcs to be Mega Armored Orcs. They are a bit blobby in the mid section, but I have a bunch more of them to get it right. One problem is working with yellow, and distressing them. Well see for you self.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GGD4zHIFqxo/UbTkq8qXLGI/AAAAAAAAJqI/Ex3URfiCWyQ/s1600/IMG_2099.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GGD4zHIFqxo/UbTkq8qXLGI/AAAAAAAAJqI/Ex3URfiCWyQ/s320/IMG_2099.JPG" width="258" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VMywAUpHQY4/UbTkrvYZY2I/AAAAAAAAJqQ/2SZhbtxExas/s1600/IMG_2103.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="184" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VMywAUpHQY4/UbTkrvYZY2I/AAAAAAAAJqQ/2SZhbtxExas/s320/IMG_2103.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-S5KnKMuXJWE/UbTksBqtt7I/AAAAAAAAJqU/agjfM-rqGJ0/s1600/IMG_2102.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="204" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-S5KnKMuXJWE/UbTksBqtt7I/AAAAAAAAJqU/agjfM-rqGJ0/s320/IMG_2102.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3kg7-ri6kOI/UbTkt8IklII/AAAAAAAAJqk/OPFl0V2oxwQ/s1600/IMG_2104.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="219" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3kg7-ri6kOI/UbTkt8IklII/AAAAAAAAJqk/OPFl0V2oxwQ/s320/IMG_2104.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Now here is the GZG mercs mingled in with the Mega units.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Oeh94MmQiGU/UbTkuaFxGDI/AAAAAAAAJqo/pYIiio3ZSjU/s1600/IMG_2105.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="166" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Oeh94MmQiGU/UbTkuaFxGDI/AAAAAAAAJqo/pYIiio3ZSjU/s320/IMG_2105.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_A0Wko7r1Ag/UbTkvJZBDNI/AAAAAAAAJqs/b-bark3jrJI/s1600/IMG_2106.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_A0Wko7r1Ag/UbTkvJZBDNI/AAAAAAAAJqs/b-bark3jrJI/s320/IMG_2106.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-K3-JdqQDXnI/UbTkvwtQyXI/AAAAAAAAJq4/HTGgKLuMQNo/s1600/IMG_2107.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-K3-JdqQDXnI/UbTkvwtQyXI/AAAAAAAAJq4/HTGgKLuMQNo/s320/IMG_2107.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--LokkFDA518/UbTkxkfaj1I/AAAAAAAAJrA/p9f5BM5uJxE/s1600/IMG_2108.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="210" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--LokkFDA518/UbTkxkfaj1I/AAAAAAAAJrA/p9f5BM5uJxE/s320/IMG_2108.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Now here are two test photos. I also want to set this up quickly so I did not follow any points. I started with a few squads of Guard, defending a checkpoint, and a pile of Orc advancing on them. The goal was to hold out till turn 8 and the Guard did.<br /><br />Looking at the turn 1 photo you can see how the two armies are deployed. the two units that are hard to see are the crew weapons from the guard. Looking at the two block items in the center of the check point they are on top of the blocks.<br /><br />Over view of the game at the end of this post.....<br /><br />Turn 1: Guard: Moved the flank units out to the sides. gun crew units fired on the bike but did not hit.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WPi1mJ_biRo/UYADc7k82eI/AAAAAAAAI8g/84Y3MzF6iKg/s1600/t1guard.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="280" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WPi1mJ_biRo/UYADc7k82eI/AAAAAAAAI8g/84Y3MzF6iKg/s400/t1guard.png" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Turn 1: Orc: All units moved forward, Bike took out one guard member from the center line.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-N6jts-FaLu0/UYADcw2DLhI/AAAAAAAAI8k/vKS_TUClUTk/s1600/t1orc.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="280" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-N6jts-FaLu0/UYADcw2DLhI/AAAAAAAAI8k/vKS_TUClUTk/s400/t1orc.png" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Turn 2: Guard: Flank units head to the rocks for cover and to wait for the Orcs to close. Also the guard would roll for Reinforcements on a 1 for a d6, so they would get them.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6AgjfsZM1gQ/UYADcww-KmI/AAAAAAAAI8o/Rv12AqFpcDA/s1600/final.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="280" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6AgjfsZM1gQ/UYADcww-KmI/AAAAAAAAI8o/Rv12AqFpcDA/s400/final.png" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Game overview:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Well I have fun playing out this solo USE ME game. I still some times miss items during the game, and for get a rule or two, but with hat in mind he is my overview. I played this game over two days, and yes I can save the game during play, and restore it as I go. This scenario was a simple defend and hold, and on turn 4 the Guard can roll for reinforcements. That did not go so well! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">To start the Guard was simply going to say put and defend it's position. I sent the PA (power armored unit) to the Right to cover the Orcs that would come that way, as well as sending the Walker. I learned the the PA are tough, and the walker got lucky, but need to be beefed up. Both units did their job well. The squads also did their job and held on very well. The big surprise to me was the two crew weapons. Both took big hits early, but after reviewing the rules they could fight with only one member alive. So both weapons fired, with one man and he was wounded, and they kept killing the Orcs. For me they are the over all winners of this battle.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Now the Orcs, they did their job, but I have made them to slow, and will alter that for my next battle with them. Also if they had a vehicle to transport them this would have changed the battle. the bikes, and Dreads were to soften the middle, allowing the flanks to come around for a pincer move. The Dammed Crew weapons held that option off. The HTH skills of the Orcs was spot on, and with more speed this battle would have been going their way not the Guards way. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So tacitly I think I played both armies well, I just messed up on the Orc speed, and the Guard walker was way to weak.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So if you like this, and the fact that I used a Virtual Table Top let me know.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Noel.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><br />Wesley Camphttps://plus.google.com/109909254088111064611noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2014042740068884319.post-69714693023361244142013-04-11T14:24:00.001-04:002013-04-11T14:26:57.784-04:00Space what is it good for!Space!<br /><br />This is my current project, and one that is consuming lots of my time. To start I have been thinking about a post I read some ware (this is how I refer to all posts as I never remember where I read them from or who wrote them). This post was about creating a codex of sort for all the races people are using in 15mm SciFi. Well that is how I read it, and I could have been wrong. Well the more I thought of this the more I liked the idea. But then I took it one giant step forward, by asking my self (my reply was a ton of work for me), would it not be cool to plot where these races lived? I replied to my self YES!<br /><br />So I went to my digital pile of software, and installed and old program called Astrosynthesis V2. This is one heck of a program, and it requires some horse power to run smoothly on a PC. As I have to played with this in years, I had to kick the tire for a few days just to bring me back up to speed. I quickly found that it was a bit lacking, and saw there was an upgrade, so I got that and am now running Astrosynthesis V3.<br />This software comes from www.NBOS.com, and they offer a 14 day trial. I<br /><br />So what does this software do you ask? Well in a nut shell it maps out space in a 3d map. It can create blank sections of space, or it can do a random generation of item in the map. As I can not think very big I did the later, and came up with a few random maps.<br /><br />Once you have a map with items in it, is ware the fun begins, and the brain starts to hurt. I have to say I have created some 10 maps over the past few days, and finely ended with a very big one. Listed below are some stats on the system map I have created.<br /><br />this Sector Map is covering an area of space 10ly Radius, or a circle 20ly across.<br />There are 476 systems, with a total of 12,852 bodies.<br />263 Habitable Terrestrial bodies.<br />81 of the having a population over 1k.<br />There is also 37 Space Station through out this sector.<br /><br />All of the items in this map can be edited, or deleted, and new objects can be created. I have a sub sector for the Imperium called IMP, and that has a total of 16 systems in it. I am going to review a sub sector report I have printed to PDF, and find what items I would like to alter to fit my Armies. Once I have a placing for my Imperial type troops, I will move on to my green skin folk, Tau-re and other I would like to add.<br /><br />Any way here are some screen shots of the software, and of the Space map.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1A7JmxEK6y4/UWby1BrNhkI/AAAAAAAAIqQ/0rXXvO5yk0M/s1600/Astro_interface.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="250" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1A7JmxEK6y4/UWby1BrNhkI/AAAAAAAAIqQ/0rXXvO5yk0M/s400/Astro_interface.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">A 2d map of the IMP sub-sector.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wsidX0edNs4/UWby_XVihdI/AAAAAAAAIqY/lsqU-zl9I94/s1600/space.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wsidX0edNs4/UWby_XVihdI/AAAAAAAAIqY/lsqU-zl9I94/s320/space.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">A 3d map of the IMP sub-sector.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7YDT7ktQ4oE/UWbzM66izeI/AAAAAAAAIqg/q7bwva9C930/s1600/space2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="226" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7YDT7ktQ4oE/UWbzM66izeI/AAAAAAAAIqg/q7bwva9C930/s320/space2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">A pulled back view of above.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nMI9wDfXi3c/UWbzZZOV_NI/AAAAAAAAIqo/GGQzYJIjC28/s1600/space3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="226" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nMI9wDfXi3c/UWbzZZOV_NI/AAAAAAAAIqo/GGQzYJIjC28/s320/space3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Pulled back even more.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0JVMX0kRWtI/UWbzn3Z1YZI/AAAAAAAAIqw/ckYgel_VgeE/s1600/space4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="226" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0JVMX0kRWtI/UWbzn3Z1YZI/AAAAAAAAIqw/ckYgel_VgeE/s320/space4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Her is a crappy video of some of the animation the software has built into it. You all know of my Space Orcs, and my Praetorian guard, and my Mid tech from Khurasan, but I also have some Peter Pig scifi guys. I am not sure they sell the range any more. I have had these for some years, and never cared to much for them. See the minis are fine, it just the guns, they suck!!!!!!! It is like the hole army is armed with search light guns..... So going back and forth I decided to use them as TAU like race. Maybe an earlier TAU, one not so advanced, but still has very good tech. So I pulled them out of the old Army transporter case and set to finishing them off. Mostly they needed their bases done. I did finish painting about 10 of them, then finished the bases. I started with Rock putty, then paint, and then flock/static grass.<br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; I had to work Saturday, and was getting frustrated with the update tool we use Call BigFix (IBM tools suck). They updated it, and now it crashes every time I create a update project in it. So a wasted day of work, and no minis to show for it.<br /><br />So no Play time Saturday, but Sunday I got some good Play time in. Before Church I was able to get mug shots of most of my minis for card creation.<br /><a href="https://plus.google.com/photos/109909254088111064611/albums/5845889701316128945?authkey=COXJneWghsnV6QE" target="_blank">Photo Album</a><br /><br />And then ended up with a hole bunch of 1.25" mug shots.<br /><a href="https://plus.google.com/photos/109909254088111064611/albums/5845959441647689233?authkey=CKPjyvL99v7CaQ" target="_blank">Small Images Photo Album</a><br /><i><span style="font-size: x-small;">These photos do not look so hot untill you view then in the slide show, as they will be at their normal size.</span></i><br /><i><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></i>I created the mug shots in this size for two reasons, 1 is for the new Gruntz army builder, and 2 is for the power point template I use for my USE ME cards. The power point requires the photo be 1.25" square to fit in a box section.<br /><br />I took the photos using my old Blackberry (image of model below), then ran them through Picasa to clean them up.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.mobilekarma.com/images/Product/medium/13957.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://www.mobilekarma.com/images/Product/medium/13957.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Next to make them small, and place a border around them I used<a href="http://www.irfanview.com/" target="_blank"> Irfanview</a> a free fast photo viewer, editor. Irfanview has a batch editor so I was able to resize all the photo in less than 1 minute, then add the border in the same time.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.irfanview.com/images/kater_li_oben.gif" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="148" src="http://www.irfanview.com/images/kater_li_oben.gif" width="200" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This ends the miniature part of my Sunday.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Then comes a new PC game. I remember getting the very first <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starsiege:_Tribes" target="_blank">Tribes</a> release back in 98, and could not put it down. With out a doubt my favorite PC game ever. In 2001 Tribes 2 was released, a bit darker but still great. In 2004 Tribes Vengeance was released, and it SUCKED!!!!!! What a waste of a game. There was a free game like Tribes, I think it was called legends or some thing like that. It was an ok game but did not have much of a following. Also two of the guys that were behind the first Tribes created a free web based game, again not many followers. Now last year Tribes Ascend came out and it was very good, till I had to buy items to stay alive, so I dropped it. Yesterday I got an email from Steam stating they are releasing a game of the year edition. I picked it up as it was on sale for $29.00. I should only have to level up to get addons now.</div><a href="https://account.hirezstudios.com/tribesascend/">https://account.hirezstudios.com/tribesascend/</a><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><object class="BLOGGER-youtube-video" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0" data-thumbnail-src="http://3.gvt0.com/vi/bcNnU3D5rHc/0.jpg" height="266" width="320"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/bcNnU3D5rHc&fs=1&source=uds" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#FFFFFF" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><embed width="320" height="266" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/bcNnU3D5rHc&fs=1&source=uds" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object></div>I know there are other great FPS but I can not run them on my computer as I need a new video card. I want BF3, but the will have to wait, and I am now very happy with Tribes.<br /><br />I wish I could run Tribes 1 under win 8, but it will not run. T1 is a great lan party game, and is free to download. You can get Tribes from <a href="http://tribesone.com/">Tribesone.com</a> and they do have a patch for Tribes to run on win7 so I may try that on my win 8 machine.<br /><br />Wesley Camphttps://plus.google.com/109909254088111064611noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2014042740068884319.post-50771379603340422852013-02-10T12:23:00.002-05:002013-02-10T12:23:32.426-05:00Weekends Work. This weekend started with a Snow storm, that left use with 10" of wet heavy snow. So what better time to hit the paint desk. I first worked on my Squats, then quickly move to the forward outpost building. I am also trying to get used to using a real camera, and some of the shots are just blah.<br /><br />All miniatures are by.<br /><br /><ul><li>Khurasan: Mid Tech troops.</li><li>15mm UK: Space Pirates (Squats)</li><li>Orc: MJ miniatures</li><li>Praetorian Guard: Old Glory 15s</li><li>GZG: Trikes, and heads. </li></ul><br /><br />First up here is the outpost. I am very happy with this, but I need to touch up the dry brushing as it is a bit heavy in places. The Squats are blurry, sorry better photos of them later in the post.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Si0vFYcUgSg/URfRdAKl8wI/AAAAAAAAIO4/ulITmMa0J0I/s1600/IMG_2042.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="216" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Si0vFYcUgSg/URfRdAKl8wI/AAAAAAAAIO4/ulITmMa0J0I/s320/IMG_2042.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FCX7gC_-OEA/URfRd5kWr1I/AAAAAAAAIPA/bGsTy_gvgk4/s1600/IMG_2043.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="231" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FCX7gC_-OEA/URfRd5kWr1I/AAAAAAAAIPA/bGsTy_gvgk4/s320/IMG_2043.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RG6g0CuJVF8/URfRe-SkRyI/AAAAAAAAIPI/W3pxC3KGYLU/s1600/IMG_2044.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="251" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RG6g0CuJVF8/URfRe-SkRyI/AAAAAAAAIPI/W3pxC3KGYLU/s320/IMG_2044.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-voChlacOTag/URfRfauyrLI/AAAAAAAAIPQ/Ywh_YaQGmG4/s1600/IMG_2045.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="215" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-voChlacOTag/URfRfauyrLI/AAAAAAAAIPQ/Ywh_YaQGmG4/s320/IMG_2045.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Next up are the GZG trikes. So I started to paint up the GZG trikes. In the back you can see my Orc Boyz on their bikes, looking for a fight.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-c2updQlvvm8/UQ-nSVWWEFI/AAAAAAAAINM/YR20DtBrpJE/s1600/IMG_2041.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="157" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-c2updQlvvm8/UQ-nSVWWEFI/AAAAAAAAINM/YR20DtBrpJE/s320/IMG_2041.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Then I got the idea of working on some terrain, and want to copy others with the electrical box buildings. The only problem is I have no bitz to attach to them. So I was off to make me some building bitz.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">First I needed a door, so I made a door, then a mold, then a copy of the door in the mold. I used plastic card and made the door in three layers. The door is in two parts, I did that to make it look more real!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-trBdFWDdHGg/UQ-nJ6S-0bI/AAAAAAAAIM0/MQ8deZ-jYiY/s1600/IMG_2038.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="252" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-trBdFWDdHGg/UQ-nJ6S-0bI/AAAAAAAAIM0/MQ8deZ-jYiY/s320/IMG_2038.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Then I needed more bitz, and got to work on them. So I took a turret hatch put some screen in it and I have a vent. I also did the same for a shield. The last bit is a hatch cover, I am just going to use as is. I did not make molds of these yet, but will. I have one more hatch cover that I forgot to take a photo of.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2wcECLd24og/UQ-nGxlzseI/AAAAAAAAIMs/rtHyFejEhSs/s1600/IMG_2037.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="110" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2wcECLd24og/UQ-nGxlzseI/AAAAAAAAIMs/rtHyFejEhSs/s320/IMG_2037.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So Next I got to work on a building. I placed the door on, a left over radar thingy, some card stock around for texture (yes it is crooked), a drinking straw for a vent pipe. You can not see in the photo but I put some screening over one of the wire inlets in the back. Also the light blue circle on top of the photo, is a water bottle cap. I put some putty in the center, then pressed screen in it for texture. I want to cut it out for another grid cover.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-B-gD_HbgISw/UQ-nN6kXIOI/AAAAAAAAIM8/G7pfUMwAtS0/s1600/IMG_2039.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-B-gD_HbgISw/UQ-nN6kXIOI/AAAAAAAAIM8/G7pfUMwAtS0/s320/IMG_2039.JPG" width="226" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LdDDH7MSW78/UQ-nQIjqVQI/AAAAAAAAINE/06biN7d18M0/s1600/IMG_2040.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LdDDH7MSW78/UQ-nQIjqVQI/AAAAAAAAINE/06biN7d18M0/s320/IMG_2040.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">That is it for now.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Noel.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">PS, I filled the holes, sanded and primed my window molding too. As I am the IT support at work, he turned to me and asked if it was windows 8? That was a LOL moment. My day started at 5 with my F'n dog decided to bark out side my bed room door. So Now I am up what to to??? Oh yea base all of the minis I got over the last few weeks. Off to my coffee, maker to get a fresh cup, and go down to my painting desk. I pulled out all of the new minis I got and a pile of pennies, and got to work. Here is what I was able to get done. Two packs of GZG mercs, 4 trikes, 2 gun track trikes, three packs of 15mm UK Dwarfs, 2 packs of the new Orc types, and some odd few minis I had lying around.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vmysUHK7Im0/UQ2c5lPj6VI/AAAAAAAAILY/v7XEe77nreQ/s1600/IMG_2035.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="246" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vmysUHK7Im0/UQ2c5lPj6VI/AAAAAAAAILY/v7XEe77nreQ/s320/IMG_2035.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yJKWsdKX7og/UQ2c6WhvKeI/AAAAAAAAILg/4c1PdwyBak4/s1600/IMG_2036.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="105" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yJKWsdKX7og/UQ2c6WhvKeI/AAAAAAAAILg/4c1PdwyBak4/s320/IMG_2036.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">OK now it was time for Window 2, I mean I need to install two new windows in my bed room. Let me just say this, my wife and I have been in this house for 12 years now and we never got around to out bed room. It was the same way it was the day we moved in, yuck!!!! So my wife can stand it no more. To get started I need to replace the window, and here is the work I have done today. First I removed the trim, and the wall paper around the windows.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zJDE66CNpx4/UQ2c7-U4w4I/AAAAAAAAIL4/KP5h4t6GdPc/s1600/IMG_2027.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zJDE66CNpx4/UQ2c7-U4w4I/AAAAAAAAIL4/KP5h4t6GdPc/s320/IMG_2027.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Then pull the old ones out.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8A71zIX--50/UQ2c8od0qsI/AAAAAAAAIMA/2A411ABxJKI/s1600/IMG_2028.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8A71zIX--50/UQ2c8od0qsI/AAAAAAAAIMA/2A411ABxJKI/s320/IMG_2028.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hy30UyVe3nk/UQ2c9G129qI/AAAAAAAAIMI/ZS_EJjLQOmE/s1600/IMG_2029.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hy30UyVe3nk/UQ2c9G129qI/AAAAAAAAIMI/ZS_EJjLQOmE/s320/IMG_2029.JPG" width="286" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The I had to remove the storm window frame from the out side, but I can not use a ladder as it is like 10F out side and I will crack the siding. Oh and it was 20F in the room with the windows out.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Then I put in the new windows.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ufo-5jwWC4A/UQ2c9hNF18I/AAAAAAAAIMQ/o5t_A1S1H10/s1600/IMG_2031.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ufo-5jwWC4A/UQ2c9hNF18I/AAAAAAAAIMQ/o5t_A1S1H10/s320/IMG_2031.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Q2dUfO_QkKE/UQ2c-P_fCwI/AAAAAAAAIMY/XjGkLfTEK-c/s1600/IMG_2032.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Q2dUfO_QkKE/UQ2c-P_fCwI/AAAAAAAAIMY/XjGkLfTEK-c/s320/IMG_2032.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Now I used spray foam and will finish the trim tomorrow. I used the rule set form <a href="http://15mm.co.uk/USE_ME_Books.htm">15mm UK</a> called USE ME 001 SciFi rules. These rules if you do not know about them are a simple set of fast play rules for Skirmish, Platoon, or Company level gaming. So during the game I ended up with a bunch of questions, and fired off my questions to a group a great guys involved with these rules. They all responed, answering all my questions, and also pointing out some of my questions are answered in their other titles.<br /><br />Now <a href="http://15mm.co.uk/USE_ME_Books.htm">15mm UK</a> started with 001 SciFi, but have created a number of other titles covering different game types. USE ME 002 = Fantasy, USE ME 003= WWII. USE ME 004= Modern, USE ME 005 ACW, USE ME 006= StarShip batles, USE ME 007 Post Apocalypse, USE ME 008= The Wild West, USE ME 009= Zombie Dawn, USE ME 010= Support pack, USE ME 011= CyberPunk, USE ME 013= Horror. Now each book has some extra rules in them, and you can mix and match rules from each book. So Most of what I need answers for were in the USE ME 007 book. I own the following in PDF USE ME 001, 002, 003, 004, 007, 010. In non PDF (printed booklet) I own USE ME 001, 002, 007, 009.<br /><br />Now for the reason why I like the PDF rules.<br />I went through the PDF USE ME-007 and saw a large 4 page section on advanced rules. these rules cover things like Close combat specialty, Anti-Tank, and some 27 other rules. In the first book there were only 4 of these rules. So I can print both books, and thumb through them as needed during a game, but that is a pain. So I have taken the PDF (with out permissions) and altered the book, then printed it in a booklet style.<br /><br />In this photo you will see the hard copy from <a href="http://15mm.co.uk/USE_ME_Books.htm">15mm UK</a> (on the right), and my printed PDF booklet (on the left). The Printed one is a 8.5X11 letter paper folded in half, with the edges trimmed off to make it cleaner looking. You will also see how the original copy is quite warn from thumbing through it.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-d6Nch_ZY01M/UQaKKpq3yOI/AAAAAAAAIKw/31kBz_h3oSo/s1600/IMG-20121219-00007.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-d6Nch_ZY01M/UQaKKpq3yOI/AAAAAAAAIKw/31kBz_h3oSo/s320/IMG-20121219-00007.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This next photo shows the printed PDF booklet opened to the page ware I have inserted the pages from USE ME 007.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6LE_K-QIAcY/UQaLBb4cIwI/AAAAAAAAIK8/NHqLvG1cwc4/s1600/IMG-20121219-00008.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6LE_K-QIAcY/UQaLBb4cIwI/AAAAAAAAIK8/NHqLvG1cwc4/s320/IMG-20121219-00008.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><br /><br />Now to how I managed the pages.<br />If you have the full version of Adobe Acrobat (lots of money) this is very easy to do. If you do not have lots of money, you have to get a bit crafty with it. There are a number of Free PDF editors out there. Here is One <a href="http://www.cutepdf-editor.com/">CutePDF Editor</a>. For me I have Linux Ubuntu at home and used a free tool called <a href="http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/pdf-shuffler.htm">PDF Shuffler</a>. Ether tool will allow you to extract pages, then insert pages in to PDF files. When extracting pages make sure you do not delete them from the original PDF. To prevent this I have placed a copy of both books in a working folder called Workbench. I open the book USE ME-007 found the pages I wanted extracted, for this job it was pages 10 through 13. I used the extract button, and saved them as a file in the Workbench folder. Now I close USE ME-007, and open USE ME-001. With 001 open I went to the page I wanted to be before the inserted pages, in this case it was page 12. I now went to the insert option of the PDF editor selected the extracted pages saved in the Workbench folder, and inserted them after page 12. Now I went through the book page by page to make sure it was they way I wanted it, then save it as a new PDF. I called the PDG USE_ME_001_007.PDF.<br /><br /><br />Now as for how I made the booklet.<br />Back in December I wrote up a how to on how to print, and make booklets.<br /><a href="http://theorky15mmscifi.blogspot.com/2012/12/gruntz-11-released.html">December"s Posting</a>.<br />This covers how to print, and then how to put it together. As we all know a normal stapler will not be able to reach the center of this booklet 5.5 inches in from the edge. So I have devised a method using the fact that the stapler will open so you can staple flat. Lay out the cover page, place on a cardboard box, and drive the staples through the pages. Flip and fold the staples, and booklet, trim the edges and you are done.<br /><br /><br /><br />So I will be looking through the other booklets I have and seeing if there is any thing I should be adding to my play book.<br /><br />If you feel this post violates any copy rights, or you have issue with me altering you copy righted material please let me know @ noelvh AT theorky DOT net and I will remove this post.<br /><br />Noel<br /><br /><br /><br />Wesley Camphttps://plus.google.com/109909254088111064611noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2014042740068884319.post-55300251886225125292013-01-26T09:29:00.000-05:002013-01-26T09:29:07.116-05:00Solo AAR.Well the boy and I made it to <a href="http://www.fiveguys.com/">5 Guys</a>, and all I can say is YUM! The we spent an hour and a half playing Skylander Giants. The boy went off to bed, and the game started. It has been a long time for me with out pushing lead, so I was very slow at getting the game going. All of the markers were not cut out so I had to do that as I needed them. I also had to review a few rules that did not make sense to me.<br /><br /><span style="color: red;">Note Spelling and gramor suck as I only had 4 hours of sleep and do not CARE...</span><br /><br />The armies<br /><a href="https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B88asdeQe7r-ZmFlVEViS1U4S2c/edit">The Corp army</a> <i>click for unit cards.</i><br />3 inf squdes, 1 power armor squad, 2 APC, 1 AFV, 1 Walker.<br />Objective get 50% of the army into the Orc deployment zone.<br /><a href="https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B88asdeQe7r-X2h2eVlhTnEzblk/edit">The Orc army</a> <i>click for unit cards.</i><br />Boss (hero) with 2 megarmored, 3 squads of boys, 5 bikes, 3 dreads.<br />Objective kill all the humes (do not let them in their DZ)<br /><br />Ok I was not able to get great photos but here is what I did get.<br /><br />Deployment<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YGLkaLr4J2g/UQPHftr0BrI/AAAAAAAAII4/9k5uyCentlI/s1600/IMG_2011.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YGLkaLr4J2g/UQPHftr0BrI/AAAAAAAAII4/9k5uyCentlI/s320/IMG_2011.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-d24Qp-6n5r0/UQPHgHM2OxI/AAAAAAAAIJA/3sh93SKRc4E/s1600/IMG_2012.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="101" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-d24Qp-6n5r0/UQPHgHM2OxI/AAAAAAAAIJA/3sh93SKRc4E/s320/IMG_2012.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wQ6uCWRAZOU/UQPHg6BTCaI/AAAAAAAAIJI/aIqrQa90b08/s1600/IMG_2013.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="123" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wQ6uCWRAZOU/UQPHg6BTCaI/AAAAAAAAIJI/aIqrQa90b08/s320/IMG_2013.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZlaQGUn3Z8E/UQPHkOF3-AI/AAAAAAAAIJQ/xd_FesvShDM/s1600/IMG_2014.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZlaQGUn3Z8E/UQPHkOF3-AI/AAAAAAAAIJQ/xd_FesvShDM/s320/IMG_2014.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>You can see I did not have much terrain in the photos above. The Right Inf squad move to the middle to work on the bikes, the the APC push to get shots, deploy their troops, and ending with a Winged, a Stuck, and a kill on the boys. The Orcs Move forward. The Bikes put a P-Inf out, but with auto repair he is back to Struck. The right flank puts a hurt on the other APC. At this point in the game the Orc have taken more damage, so I am not thinking they will make it to victory.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lMAkLyDDMNI/UQPHpPUXk_I/AAAAAAAAIKI/wPY4ahlghOI/s1600/IMG_2021.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lMAkLyDDMNI/UQPHpPUXk_I/AAAAAAAAIKI/wPY4ahlghOI/s320/IMG_2021.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><u>Turn 4</u></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Here is when the Boss takes action, and jumps the first APC, and kills it. I felt during the early part of the game I thought the Orcs were not going to do well, but the gave as good as they got, but their HTH with the CC on all the units really helped. So the Orc really one this one by not allowing the Corps in their DZ. Now if I kept playing the Crops would have killed all the Orcs, but not have 50% to win the game.<br /><br />Over all I had fun, I love the rules, but got confused by the heavy weapons for Inf (what good is it??). I also made a big mistake on the APC and made them light Veh, and they were taken out way to easily. All tanks should be heavy......<br /><br />So the next round of this game, the Orcs will get reinforcements. <br /><br />Also I would like to play this with the Gruntz Rules, but I have to finish reading them, and creat the units.<br /><br />USE ME questions I have?<br />1) What is a Inf Heavy weapon good for???? Only thing I can thing is range. Should have a 1" template VS inf.<br />1) Does a vehicle get a HTH attack.<br />3) Disembarking from a vehicle?<br /><br />Wesley Camphttps://plus.google.com/109909254088111064611noreply@blogger.com13tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2014042740068884319.post-51109532874859165072013-01-25T16:41:00.003-05:002013-01-25T16:41:51.593-05:00Solo Game tonight USE ME SciFi.My wife and girl went in to the city to see a play, my boy as a wrestling meet in the am (in bed on time), so I have a night to my self.<br /><br />I have two small armies I am going to put on a table tonight.<br /><br />First problem. I my terrain for 15mm is no ware to be found....... I am afraid is got trashed at some point, and I forgot about it.<br /><br />First fix. Foam cutter, and some white foam.<br /><br />Second problem. My tan table cloth was eaten by mice.<br /><br />Second fix. Diner table is light stained wood.<br /><br />So I have a simple scenario for tonight. I call it Dry rock. It is a planet that was scouted for its minerals, only problem is most of the probes never made it back. The mining company is sending a force to take the planet. During the Drop two the the orbital transports get damaged, and are forced down far from the LZ. The hand full of squads must make it to the LZ, and link up. But there is a green beast sitting in wait for these troops.<br /><br />I will have photos, and a AAR. But first me and the boy are going to Five Guys for burgers, fires (chips for you guys over the pond), and peanuts. <br /><br />Noel Wesley Camphttps://plus.google.com/109909254088111064611noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2014042740068884319.post-62460952160353852532013-01-23T14:02:00.003-05:002013-01-23T14:04:04.789-05:00New miniatures, and a painted vehicle.I was over come by the urge to buy some new miniatures this month. Seeing two posts on the net is what made my choice on just what miniatures I was going to get. The first post was from 15mm UK, and this one showed the new range of <a href="http://www.15mm.co.uk/Star_Vikings_15mm_Range.htm">Star Vikings</a> Space Dwarfs (Squats). I had to have them!!!!! Also in that range was some Orc like figures, so I had to get them as well. The next post was related to 15mm head swaps, and who had the best heads. GZG was the leader in that post so off to GZG web store, and I got some heads and other stuff. I ended up getting a pack of each of the mercs, to packs of trikes, and two packs of the tracked trikes. All in all GZG stuff does not need any write up from me the stuff is top notch.<br /><br />As to the 15mm UK miniatures, I have some thing to say. The Dwarfs are fantastic...... The other guys are a bit lacking. The Wusuq guys heads are just ok. One guy the leader is great but the others have a grill in front that looks just crapy. I must be honest it looks like the others were rushed to finish, and if the heads were better I would have nothing but great things to say. So I am looking at head swaps for them.<br />Any way here are some photos.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-s6SmqPlpxGw/UP_2d0UGU0I/AAAAAAAAIH4/F_CAr_k3EiA/s1600/IMG-20121214-00002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="157" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-s6SmqPlpxGw/UP_2d0UGU0I/AAAAAAAAIH4/F_CAr_k3EiA/s400/IMG-20121214-00002.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AnJmZ5qrvfw/UP_2g0Zy-VI/AAAAAAAAIIA/WadhpCnO-GM/s1600/IMG-20121214-00003.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="160" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AnJmZ5qrvfw/UP_2g0Zy-VI/AAAAAAAAIIA/WadhpCnO-GM/s400/IMG-20121214-00003.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GKtKzWxTZJY/UP_2jVYe4_I/AAAAAAAAIII/re1Zi7oVrNw/s1600/IMG-20121214-00004.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="163" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GKtKzWxTZJY/UP_2jVYe4_I/AAAAAAAAIII/re1Zi7oVrNw/s400/IMG-20121214-00004.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tABG0S8rXv0/UP_2lk5q1FI/AAAAAAAAIIQ/BcQsqRlIcro/s1600/IMG-20121214-00006.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="123" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tABG0S8rXv0/UP_2lk5q1FI/AAAAAAAAIIQ/BcQsqRlIcro/s400/IMG-20121214-00006.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />As all way click to see a larger view of each photo. This past fall he did not have any thing to work on so I gave him one of my Old Crow alien fighters to pint up. As he IS NOT a miniature painter he was not sure what to do. I told him to painted it how ever he wanted to. This past weekend he was over and brought it back, and to my surprise!<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g4jMtrOXjBk/UP_2WQoF4AI/AAAAAAAAIHg/VB9XYde7GA0/s1600/IMG_2008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="224" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g4jMtrOXjBk/UP_2WQoF4AI/AAAAAAAAIHg/VB9XYde7GA0/s320/IMG_2008.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-naUmFnfNDy0/UP_2ZFpBLbI/AAAAAAAAIHo/bUMvotVJN9E/s1600/IMG_2009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="234" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-naUmFnfNDy0/UP_2ZFpBLbI/AAAAAAAAIHo/bUMvotVJN9E/s320/IMG_2009.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jqMUaT-F4Nw/UP_2bo7vfRI/AAAAAAAAIHw/-MGDo_w9bug/s1600/IMG_2010.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="236" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jqMUaT-F4Nw/UP_2bo7vfRI/AAAAAAAAIHw/-MGDo_w9bug/s320/IMG_2010.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />He did a fantastic job, and one color scheme I would not have thought of. I have some GW plastic beastmen I have for SBH warband, and wanted to see how I do with 28mm stuff. I have not done a 28mm guy completely in a very long time, and I thought what the heck let me just see what happens. My first thought was just paint the figure to be playable, and that will be good for me.<br /><br />So I painted up a guy and I feel he is very good, and a great restart to me painting 28s again. Some of my challenges are I do use paint for miniatures, and my brushes are all for my 15mm guys. So I started out with a guy, took a photo with my trusty new Blackberry Bold (90% of all my miniature photos were taken with a Blackberry phone) and it sucked!!!!!! I spent a half hour trying to figure out my camera on the phone with no luck. So skip the progress photos. I got a good start, then off to my Son's first confession at church. Few hours later I was back at the bench, and I broke out my old canon camera, and her is the first shot.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JOwip6tvVlw/UPKcH-gac2I/AAAAAAAAIEU/BJYbJYAhANI/s1600/IMG_2004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JOwip6tvVlw/UPKcH-gac2I/AAAAAAAAIEU/BJYbJYAhANI/s400/IMG_2004.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Then I kept at the painting till it wad finished.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-49Nd9K33vtQ/UPKcIUUF-NI/AAAAAAAAIEc/mhi9Yx7fq8g/s1600/IMG_2005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-49Nd9K33vtQ/UPKcIUUF-NI/AAAAAAAAIEc/mhi9Yx7fq8g/s400/IMG_2005.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gDTAQj_KsMY/UPKcJQj0XLI/AAAAAAAAIEk/vuZDN3tIsGg/s1600/IMG_2006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gDTAQj_KsMY/UPKcJQj0XLI/AAAAAAAAIEk/vuZDN3tIsGg/s400/IMG_2006.JPG" width="400" /></a>'</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iTJPjA1f3EE/UPKcJzDCkBI/AAAAAAAAIEs/fulxSJpwO8k/s1600/IMG_2007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iTJPjA1f3EE/UPKcJzDCkBI/AAAAAAAAIEs/fulxSJpwO8k/s400/IMG_2007.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">My next challenge was I just upgraded my laptop, and did not have all the software loaded on it. We both have Android tablets, as I do not like Apple, and will not buy any of their products. With the super storm, I was in need of movies for my tablets, and other media to keep us busy during the down times. So after the storm I really did some thinking on how to best use my tablets and media. One idea was to start streaming my media in my house. Now I have a number of systems in my house, and would like for just one point for all my files to live. Having to copy all my stuff from one device to another all the time sucks, and takes a ton of time.<br /><br />So here is my current lay out of my house.<br /><ul><li>TV room, I have a 64 bit win 7 machine hooked up to the TV.</li><li>Kitchen, I have a full Win 7 desktop with a HD Monitor, TV tuner card.</li><li>Bed room, I have a win 7 laptop hooked up to my TV.</li><li>Office had a win 8 (yuck) game rig.</li><li>Tablet one, ASUS transformer tf101</li><li>Tablet two, Samsung player 5"</li></ul>I do not want to play with the game rig, as I want it for just games, but the rest I want to get all hooked up to streaming. Now I will be replacing my TV room PC with an <a href="http://www.amazon.com/SainSmart-PC-On-A-Stick-Computer-Processor-Internal/dp/B009A80ADA/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pdT1_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=1NRRCD1Z5P9ML&coliid=I1A5DRCEQWBASS">Android player</a>. This is a small device that turns your TV into an Android tablet. So with my wants listed I headed to Google to see what I could find.<br /><br />For Video conversion this is what I am doing, and please note this is being done with DVDs that I own.<br />First I needed to rip my DVDs, and using the TV room computer I installed <a href="http://www.dvdfabb.com/download.htm">DVD Fab</a> to do this. This is a free simple DVD ripper. Once I have the DVD ripped to the hard drive, I wanted to make it more Tablet friendly, and yes you do loose quality doing this, but I do not mind the lose. To turn the Vob files into a format I can easily play on Android I use <a href="http://www.freemake.com/">Free Make Video converter</a>. This is an easy and fast tool to do the job. My goal is to get the files around 2gb, and DVD fab will get them to just over 4gb in size.<br /><br />OK so now I have my videos in avi (mpg) format and I can play on all my computers and tablets now what. Do I copy these to my devices?? No that is a total pain, and this is ware my next find comes in to play. <a href="http://www.serviio.org/">Serviio</a> is a media server, and it took about 15 minutes to setup and run, so I was watching movies on my tablet and the end of 15 minutes. And I mean it, it was very simple and easy to set up and use.<br />With Serviio I can stream my video, my music, my photos, and more.To view the media on my tablets I install the Serviio GO app from the play store. And to view on my Windows systems I use VLC player, and open the bookmarks. Both of the connections methods I will cover in later posts.<br /><br />So now my plan is to move the TV room PC to a closet and keep it as my media server, and just connect to it for streaming media. I can connect to the media server from my tablet using a great remote desktop tool called <a href="http://www.splashtop.com/home">SplashTop</a>. Install it both on a tablet (yes even IOS) and the desktop and it creates a great remote connection.<br /><br />This hole process is very simple to setup, and I will be doing a step by step of each part in coming posts. The first will be on converting DVDs to vob files (ripping the DVD to your hard drive). If you use a different approach to get your media up and shared please comment, and I will look in to it, as I love this stuff.<br /><br />Noel <br /><br /><br />Noelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16639239606530592733noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2014042740068884319.post-39513203599850507452012-12-04T11:45:00.001-05:002012-12-04T11:45:57.037-05:00GRUNTZ 1.1 released.Well I have been waiting for this release for some time now and it is here. I was not informed by email that is was ready but I was checking my Wargames Vault account and saw it there for download. So I have printed it out in full color, and will be taking it for a comb binding this week. I have all way wanted to bind my own book so today I got started on that project.<br /><br />I started by printing the book in parts. Pages 1 ~ 20, 21 ~ 40, 41 ~ 60, 61 ~ 80, 81 ~ 100, 101 ~ 120, 120 ~ 136. I set them to the printer in booklet format, so one one page of paper I will have 4 pages.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tYhAkO10I5Y/UL4IyfpKhhI/AAAAAAAAAO4/JnWL9xTiCU0/s1600/booklet.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="285" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tYhAkO10I5Y/UL4IyfpKhhI/AAAAAAAAAO4/JnWL9xTiCU0/s320/booklet.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>OK with the booklets printed I needed to keep the pages together. To do this I stapled them, and yes the stapler does not reach the center of the page. So I took page one of the booklet, and marked it up as so. First I found center, then I had to find the off set of the stapler from its front edge.<br /><br />In this photo I have a 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper, in a make shift jig of a computer (on left), box (in back), on top of a box (bottom). The paper has lines (click for larger view). There is a center line, then the offset line. As you can see the stapler's front in on the offset line and the staple will end up on the center line when done. I have also marked ware I will place the staples. The only line I draw is the off set in light pencil and cross it ware the center of the staple goes. <br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8IkRJtYyeN8/UL4X1Lngu5I/AAAAAAAAAPI/jPRR4of3Uv4/s1600/IMG-20121204-00144.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8IkRJtYyeN8/UL4X1Lngu5I/AAAAAAAAAPI/jPRR4of3Uv4/s400/IMG-20121204-00144.jpg" width="400" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">In this photo you can see the staples. I just punch the staples through the pages right into the box below, starting with the center, and making sure the pages stay in line before moving to the next two staples. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TMMDSMCb1Cs/UL4ZBl4I6pI/AAAAAAAAAPQ/KX2e95tabJk/s1600/IMG-20121204-00145.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TMMDSMCb1Cs/UL4ZBl4I6pI/AAAAAAAAAPQ/KX2e95tabJk/s320/IMG-20121204-00145.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Now I then gently remove the pages from the box so the staples do not rip through the paper. Next lay it flat with the staples sticking up, and lay a ruler along the staples and start a fold. Once it starts to fold bend the staples over as if they were normally stapled, and finish the fold to complete the booklet.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Xgs6bdYozIE/UL4ZkHoSl6I/AAAAAAAAAPY/3fuX4w7wLDw/s1600/IMG-20121204-00146.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Xgs6bdYozIE/UL4ZkHoSl6I/AAAAAAAAAPY/3fuX4w7wLDw/s320/IMG-20121204-00146.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>Now you see the booklets I created using this method. I have 7 in total, and I now have to figure how to put them together as a book. I will start with a needle and thread, and loop through the staples and knot each booklet together. Here is a <a href="http://www.sff.net/people/brook.west/bind/bindit.html">web page</a> that shows some thing like what I am doing but they are using holes for the thread, and I will use Staples form my holds. I am thinking of gluing a strip of cloth ribbon to the back edge of the outer booklets. Sowing the strips to the staples, and then bending them out to glue to the book cover when done. Kind of like L brackets on the front and back booklet. The I will glue the backs of all the booklets, to the back of my binding, then glue the L brackets to the inside covers. <br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-AV1DnrqxddQ/UL4ad-MpVyI/AAAAAAAAAPg/8BrQWoa9pFg/s1600/IMG-20121204-00143.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-AV1DnrqxddQ/UL4ad-MpVyI/AAAAAAAAAPg/8BrQWoa9pFg/s320/IMG-20121204-00143.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />So I hope to finish this supper geekey project soon.<br /><br />Noel<br />Noelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16639239606530592733noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2014042740068884319.post-10590256649401281492012-11-21T09:21:00.002-05:002012-11-21T10:43:14.858-05:00How We survived Sandy!<br /><br /><div class="im">So my wife and I were talking about what we need for the future, when another storm or other event happens again. We have a list of items that will will be getting, and keeping in good order, but let me lay out what we did to survive Sandy.<br /><br /><u><b>What we got before the storm:</b></u></div><ul><div class="im"><br /><li>Food, but we were not thinking long term loss of power, and did normal shopping. </li><li>We got 4 cases of water. </li><li>Our medication re-filled.</li><li>Gassed up both cars.</li></div><li>Checked all my camping gear. Coleman white fuel lantern, camping stove.</li><div class="im"><br /><li>Batteries, Batteries, Batteries, and more Batteries</li><li>Propane for grill, and camping stove.</li></div><li>White fuel for lantern, one gal (we needed more).</li><li>Glow sticks. </li><li>Some more odds and ends, like movies for our Android tablets, and other entertainment.</li></ul><div class="im"><b><u>The night of the storm:</u></b></div>Well I was not sure why my company closed the day of the storm, but it did. Sandy did not pick up till late in the day, but she did pick up. Monday gave us time to make sure we had what was needed for a few day with out power. So the storm hit in force, and by 7:30 PM our power was out, and little did we know it would stay out for 9 cold days. Bare in mind that almost to the day last year we had a killer snow storm, and lost power for only 12 hours, and we were thinking the same would happen here. So out came the camping stove, and lantern.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://media.rei.com/media/619466Lrg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://media.rei.com/media/619466Lrg.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://bestcampingstoves.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/coleman-powerpack-single-burner-camping-stove-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://bestcampingstoves.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/coleman-powerpack-single-burner-camping-stove-1.jpg" /></a></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Now my stove is not the one above but very close to it. Also it was broken, and thanks to a toy I was able to fix it. The rubber O ring was missing, and in a pinch I used a Bendaroos to make one. A Bendaroo is a wire covered in a sticky wax, and I wrapped it around the connector and it filled the gap. It lasted till Saturday before it blew out on me. <br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.bendaroos.com/images/template/products/product_image_500.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://www.bendaroos.com/images/template/products/product_image_500.jpg" /></a></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Ok it is now Tuesday, and there was nothing but leaves, and a few branches in my yard, no damage that I could see. I made my coffee (use camping stove to heat water, then pour the water through the filter on my automatic coffee maker), then made eggs for breakfast. It was not till noon that we ventured out, and were totally shocked at all the damage.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vlCNeS5hqG4/UJKk0RgAM_I/AAAAAAAAAOA/vhXL-J1BWcI/s1600/IMG-20121030-00118.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vlCNeS5hqG4/UJKk0RgAM_I/AAAAAAAAAOA/vhXL-J1BWcI/s320/IMG-20121030-00118.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AGe_IyN2Rtw/UJKk2hdTOHI/AAAAAAAAAOI/GdFMqZEsANM/s1600/IMG-20121030-00120.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AGe_IyN2Rtw/UJKk2hdTOHI/AAAAAAAAAOI/GdFMqZEsANM/s320/IMG-20121030-00120.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />This is just three streets over from mine, and this is now common on all most all streets in my town. I have never seen as many trees, and power poles knocked down. I know all of the photos of the storm came from the shore areas, and as bad as they were, it was terrible in the northern New Jersey as well. So back to the house and break out the games.<br />It got very cold at night, and the house lost all its heat, so we were forced to bunk up and stay warm at night. For the most part we all slept well under a number of blankets, and unzipped sleeping bags. In the kitchen we were cooking, and that is where the lantern was. With both putting off alot of heat, I decided to hang blankets across the opening to my kitchen, and we were all warm, and watching movies on my tablet.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.asus.com/websites/global/products/gHh4q7I8dvWJzhdV/P_500.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://www.asus.com/websites/global/products/gHh4q7I8dvWJzhdV/P_500.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />With the keyboard dock I had 15 hours of battery life. Also a good board game after dinner help pass the time till bed. Our dogs and cat were also going in and out the kitchen to stay warm. We did end up getting sweaters for the dogs. We kept this up through the week.<br /><br />Friday night brought some really bad news. My Mother was very sick, and not doing well. So I called my brother, left work to see her. I work less that 5 miles from the nursing home she is in, and it took me at least 45 minutes to get there. With all the downed trees, and power poles I was forced to change my route a number of times. Well in the nursing home I was told to say my good-byes to my Mother, and my brother and I did just that.<br /><div class="im">Saturday November 3, 2012 my Mother passed away.<br /><br /><b><u>Now to outline Saturday:</u></b></div>We started the day by taking showers, and this is my own home made shower. We start by putting pots of water on the camping stove, and the side burner on the gas grill. Next we use large bowls for snacks on football days, and a 2 gal watering can. We wash up and rinse off with the watering can. Not a great shower but we are all clean. This takes us two hours, and now of to get breakfast. We found a diner open and that took over an hour to eat, and get back on the road to see my mother. Well we missed her passing by 10 minutes, and I guess that was OK as my kids are to young to see this.<br />So now what do I do, I asked my self. The nursing home contacted the funeral home, and it all started. The best thing is I took care of the funeral plans 10 years ago, and this process was very simple and not taxing on my already stressed out self. So a big shout out to <a href="http://www.partroyfuneralhome.com/" target="_blank">Par-Troy Funeral home</a>, and the staff. In this trying time of no power, and the loss of my mother they were a great help and comfort to me and my family. <br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.partroyfuneralhome.com/assets/family-pic2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://www.partroyfuneralhome.com/assets/family-pic2.jpg" /></a></div>Thank You.<br /><br />So now that my Mother passed the day is still not over. I end up going home and my bother is there to meet us, and try and get a handle on what needs to be done. So I go to make some of my Hurricane coffee, when my camping stove's toy O ring blows out. I ask my daughter if she has any more Bendaroos and no she does not. So it is off to the local hardware store. I get to <a href="http://stationhardware.doitbest.com/home.aspx" target="_blank">Station Hardware</a> only to find a line to get in, and it is full of people looking for plugs for generators, and kerosene. At this point one of the workers states they do not have kerosene, but they do have the heaters. My brother tells me he can get kerosene in PA where he lives so I get a heater, and an empty 5 gal kerosene can, and this is when the magic really started. The father (owner of the store) tells the son to get me the items, but makes a mistake and give me 1 gal of kerosene with the heater. So we go back and forth of the wrong items, and I end up with these items. Now there was no fight, and cross words, they made a mistake, and I now have heat.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qqtO3NikxNY/UKJrHTwMt7I/AAAAAAAAAOo/5bEaPDRfimA/s1600/IMG-20121103-00123.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qqtO3NikxNY/UKJrHTwMt7I/AAAAAAAAAOo/5bEaPDRfimA/s320/IMG-20121103-00123.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />As you can see this is a big hit with the kids.<br /><br />So Saturday started out crappy, and ended up not so bad.... Thanks Mom!<br />Sunday was a great day only because we had some heat. Monday I was off from work to mourn the passing of my Mother, but the kerosene I got from PA was dirty, and stunk us out of the house. Then we took stock in our supplies, and found we were very close to no fresh food, very low on lantern fuel, ice, and I need clean kerosene. Tuesday I set out to the polls, and to get more supplies. I was at the polls early to cast my vote, and all I have to say is YES for more years!!!! Next get more supplies! Well that did not go well. I found good clean kerosene, but not lantern fuel. My wife got some food but only small amounts as we could not keep them fresh long. Tuesday night was the coldest nigh of all, and the heater barley did any thing. Also my company mailed me an air card so I can get on the internet and see what is going on in the world. We ended up watching Captain American on Netflix.<br /><div class="im"><br /><b><u>Wednesday the last day with out power, oh and a new storm is set to hit:</u></b></div>We made it through the new storm, and we ended the 9 long days with out power. In the end we as a family did a great job of sticking together, and working together to get through this mess. My kids are 7 and 8 and I only put my son (7) in time out once during this whole ordeal. So I want to say here and now just how proud I am of my Wife Mary, Daughter Makayla (8), and Son Noah (7) for all you effort and work to survive Sandy and her aftermath.<br /><br />I have so many people to thank for there help, and support during this time. My company Compucom sent some help in the way of a gift card to get some food, my boss was calling to make sure I got my wifi card, my co-workers for there support and some supplies, my brother Brad for his help, my wife's family for their help, the local hardware store, and the funeral home. There are more to say thanks to like the power guys and more, so I will just say Thank You to all who helped the victims of Hurricane Sandy......<br /><br />Noel.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://bestcampingstoves.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/coleman-powerpack-single-burner-camping-stove-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a></div>Noelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16639239606530592733noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2014042740068884319.post-87042182438230274062012-10-23T07:35:00.002-04:002012-10-23T07:35:47.367-04:00More Orc Dreads painted up!This weekend did not see allot of painting, but more priming of all my lose Orcs. I am trying to build them into units, and fraction. I did get two more of my Dreads painted, but they need their bases, and banners added.<br />These Dreads are modeled after the Evil Suns, all things machine! I did not want to place glyphs like the other Dreads, but rather a emblem on the belly was just the right touch for them. The last photo is just for comparison between the different styles of each fractions.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DZKRJf9ZMPs/UIUtw0q1SMI/AAAAAAAAANg/MBWc_PlIDrY/s1600/IMG-20121022-00113.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="142" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DZKRJf9ZMPs/UIUtw0q1SMI/AAAAAAAAANg/MBWc_PlIDrY/s320/IMG-20121022-00113.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--3vIex0wNgA/UIUtxIBaXbI/AAAAAAAAANo/jz38YxvY5Ts/s1600/IMG-20121022-00111.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="130" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--3vIex0wNgA/UIUtxIBaXbI/AAAAAAAAANo/jz38YxvY5Ts/s320/IMG-20121022-00111.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-W8ljExVmD8w/UIUtxu8GYWI/AAAAAAAAANs/S5faByyTR-M/s1600/IMG-20121022-00112.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="136" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-W8ljExVmD8w/UIUtxu8GYWI/AAAAAAAAANs/S5faByyTR-M/s320/IMG-20121022-00112.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g10LyaZUt8s/UHqhTC25u-I/AAAAAAAAALA/-ht35aNQh9o/s1600/IMG-20121014-00085.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-g10LyaZUt8s/UHqhTC25u-I/AAAAAAAAALA/-ht35aNQh9o/s320/IMG-20121014-00085.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>I am still waiting for Gruntz 1.1 to come out, and their army/unit builder so I can stat up the Orcs for Grunts, as well as for USE ME rules.<br /><br />What I plan for my rules is this, and I know some will argue this but it is how I feel. Both Gruntz, and USE ME are great systems in their own right but they have a defined role in wargaming. I feel Gruntz is a great skirmish level game, and USE ME is meant for Mass Combat.<br />How I define the two.<br />Skirmish level games are 50 or less miniatures per side, and Mass Combat are 50 or more miniatures per side. My plan is to field my entire Orc hoard of well over a 150 miniatures, and some day it will be over 200. Gruntz will take all day to play that type of game out. <br /><br />Now I could simply use USE ME for skirmish level as well, but I feel the games will be over very quickly, and this would only be good if I was going to play a number of games in one night. So I wait for Gruntz 1.1 so I may print off a copy, and get reading the rules.<br /><br />Noel.Noelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16639239606530592733noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2014042740068884319.post-90798922657388987962012-10-14T07:58:00.002-04:002012-10-14T07:58:52.578-04:00The Orcs are back!It has been a long time with out a post from me, and I have found some time to post. Or the last few months I have been busy with life stuff, and not been giving my Miniatures any real time. It is now fall, and my painting desk has been getting some attention, and I wan to share what I have been working on.<br />I am making some changes to this blog, I hat blogger. I am going with a very simple look, and sticking to it. Some of the features work some don't, some ware my blog template got screwed up and I can not fix it. I will try and add the photo from the top back but that is it. The content is what really matters, any way.<br /><br />First let me say I have been inspired by a post on TMP regarding Orks. Now I do not use that work for IP reasons, I use the generic term Orc. So this guy has been knocking out some fantastic stuff, that follows the GW Ork clans to a T.<br /><br />That is some thing I was not doing as I want to keep under the IP radar, but as I really don't care any more I am finishing my Orc in the old codex fashion.<br /><br />So with out further bla bla bla here are my Boys, and their machines.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; I released 10 Noel's logs in all, but I did not get much in the way of feed back. I think in total I had 4 comments posted, so I have no way to know if readers like or dislike my posts. I know people are viewing the Blog as last week I had days over 200 hits in one day, with that number of hit, and no comments I can only assume people just want like photos. Writing dose not come easily to me so I will step back from that and just post the meat.<br /><br />So Noel's log goes away, and I will still share my work through photos..........<br /><br />It was my birth day this week, and I got minis. My wife and kids got me more BRF dwarfs, and two olaphants. I started to put the later together this weekend but I still need primer to paint stuff. Photos to come.<br /><br />Also got my three armies up in Universal Battle, so I can have a battle any time I want with out setting up a table.<br /><br />Thanks for checking in, and come back as I will be going back to random posting rather then weekly posting.<br /><br />NoelWesley Camphttps://plus.google.com/109909254088111064611noreply@blogger.com6
