Jetpack Orc ride!

In my lat post I wen on about my tech geek side, and did not have any mini related content. So you might not have seen the last post as i did not share the links on G+.

But I did manage to get a bit of work done. Below are two molds I made of my hard drive jumper jetpack. Also the epoxy I am using, I know it is not green stuff, it is some thing I picked up at Lowes as plastic epoxy. It works very well for what I use it for.

Here the Epoxy is mixed. You see water in the photo as I use that to help with mixing, to limit the stick of the epoxy.
Here it is pressed into the mold.
After 15 minutes under a very hot lamp.

Here they are cleaned up and glued on to the boys.
Now here are two I did last week, but did not take a photo of.

Weekend update Guard units, and motor pool.

Mad Doc here with more news of  the Guard, and its progress. It will not matter how many they are they will all die by the hands of the Orc! But let them make a good show of it.

Here you see I have completed another squad of guard.
Add one more squat squad to the ranks. The yellow units this time around.
These tanks were in various states of work, so with some dip, paint, and a canvas cover they they just need dull coat applied to mark them as complete.

Until next time.

Guard squad, and jet packs.

Tonight I finished the painting of a guard squad, they just need basing. Then I took some epoxy putty and pressed it into the jet pack mold. I think this will work from me.

Orc Rocket Pack (Fire Jumpa).

Hello All Mad Doc here, to talk about strapping a rocket to an Orcs back. See as I want to play out the big battle, I noticed I will need jump pack troops. Now the USE ME rules do not have any so I decided to make my own. I am starting off with a move of 18", and working back from that. Also this is an Orc pack so it just might not work.

Jet Pack 10Pts.
Range Up to 18 inches. This is a straight line vehicle, not turns can be made. When the model decides to fire the rocket he draws a line to the location he want to land at. Then roll a D6.
D6 roll, Result
1, Falure, roll another D6 for the distance. Once at the distance the rocket explodes. The jumper takes a +3 penetrating hit. Place a 2" template on this mini, any unit touching it takes a +2 penetrating hit.
2, Move 14"
3, Move 15"
4, Move 16"
5, Move 17"
6, Move 18"
Every time the model fires the rocket it changes the critical hit roll to the number of time is has fired. Second firing, on a 1 or 2 roll for the crit. Third firing 1, 2, or 3 roll for crit.

On a roll of 1, then 1 the model explodes on the spot, they started on. Place a 3" template and all touching take a +3 penetrating hit.

If the user does not fire the pack they can move 4", and still make a second move for another 2" a total of 6" per turn.

Now I have worked up the rule,  I decided to test this new rule out.
To do this I set up a small skirmish with a Guard squad and an Orc squad with rocket packs. I am using Universal battle for my table top.

Deployment. As you can see both side are deployed some distance apart.
Guard T1: As the guard does not have the range weapons they sit tight.

Orc T1: the Orcs opt to run for there first move and the squad moves up the allowed 6".
Guard T2: Now the boys are with in long range, and the gurad fires off 4 shots, and get 2 hits. One Orc is Struck. The guard now fire a second time at a -1 for second shot. They score 2 more hits, killing the Orc that was struck, and winging another.
Orc T2: Now it is time to fire the rockets. Mug Thug makes the first jump and there is no issues. The second jumper goes with no issues. The third jumper hits the trigger and and is launched 15" to his death. His body lands and also tries to take out Mug Thug and another. Lucky no one else was hurt this time. The 5th boy also jumped but popped, this time the template was placed on 4 boys. Two took wounds, 1 S, 1 W.
The 7th jumper landed in the woods, and BOOM. This time the template went on a guardsman as well, but the Orc was the only one hurt or Dead. Now that they all made the jumps, it was time to shoot. The ended up shooting up 2 guardsman, and only wounding them.
So to sum it up I think the rules for the Rocket Pack will work, and add a Orcy level to the game. This weapon it not all that bad if you land in the mix of the enemy and get a good DOOM. Now POPPING before you take off well that is also very Orcy.

Mega Orcs and a Dread

Well the summer has passed me by, no vacations this year, but allot of painting. The only issue is I was painting the inside of my house not minis. My wife has we need to paint out house, and she was right it is allot of work but it looks great.

I did how ever sneak in a few hours to paint. This past weekend I finished my 4 squads of Mega Orcs, and one Dread. I had painted the leaders some time ago, but needed to finish the boys. Well I think they came out very nice. I have seen others tweak their megas but I did not have the time, and if I do more I will. All flock was my tea flock with tufts of gail force 9 static grass.

Here is another Epic gargant as a Dread. I uses a rotary gun from Shock Force OOP and computer flat cable as the ammo belt. I left this one hanging off for a different look. Also had to glif up the paint job. I still need to add a banner but it looks good.

Orc vehicle contest My entry

Well I started my entry for this contest. It is going  to be a gun truck, manned by goblins. I am still working it out in my head, but as per the rules here are photos of the base of the model. Now I can not win as I am hosting the contest on my G+ community "Space Orcs" but I need to be in it.

My own personal challenge is to do this truck with our spending one cent on it. I have to make it with what I have in my house. Well I found the wheels on one of my son's broken hot wheels in the back yard.

The bulk of this is plastic card stock, and the cab is not solid but I put it together like a box. I also found that using scissors for cutting cloth the zigzag pattern work on card stock.

Here is the truck next to a boy.

Well this is the first round of photos for this contest.

Please if you have any interest in Space Orciod types join the group.

Orc Commandos painted WIP.

The Commandos, how should I pant them up, what should they look like, well here is one way I thought they should look. I have created a progress photo stream of my work on 4 of my Orc Commandos today.

Start with some GZG mercs, and a few paints. I used Green, Antique white, sable brown, Black, red, yellow, white, silver (metallic), Polyshades dip, Testers dull coat.

With the two colours below I mixed up most of the uniform, gun, armour, and boots.

Bellow are the Orcs ready for dip, and I have brushed it on.

Once the dip is dry, I sprayed with dull coat, and hit some detail work.

Only thing left is to finish up the bases. Then put them to work.
