Sunday a day of Tinkering!

I spent the day tinkering around, I needed to fix up the molding for my windows, and I wanted to do some minis as well. So I started to paint up the GZG trikes. In the back you can see my Orc Boyz on their bikes, looking for a fight.

Then I got the idea of working on some terrain, and want to copy others with the electrical box buildings. The only problem is I have no bitz to attach to them. So I was off to make me some building bitz.
First I needed a door, so I made a door, then a mold, then a copy of the door in the mold. I used plastic card and made the door in three layers. The door is in two parts, I did that to make it look more real!

Then I needed more bitz, and got to work on them. So I took a turret hatch put some screen in it and I have a vent. I also did the same for a shield. The last bit is a hatch cover, I am just going to use as is. I did not make molds of these yet, but will. I have one more hatch cover that I forgot to take a photo of.

So Next I got to work on a building. I placed the door on, a left over radar thingy, some card stock around for texture (yes it is crooked), a drinking straw for a vent pipe. You can not see in the photo but I put some screening over one of the wire inlets in the back. Also the light blue circle on top of the photo, is a water bottle cap. I put some putty in the center, then pressed screen in it for texture. I want to cut it out for another grid cover.

That is it for now.

Noel.

PS, I filled the holes, sanded and primed my window molding too. They are ready to be re-installed on the windows.

The Ent

Well I gave my self till the end of today to finish this Ent I call Tree Beard, and I really finished it yesterday morning. I was lucky and every one in my house left me alone for a few hours.

To start this Ent is from Black Raven Foundry, and I have had is so long that I got it directly from BRF, and not Old Glory 15s. I got this and 5 more after seeing them in the LoTRs, but I did not have an army for them. So I got sick of  seeing them and decided to work on it.

I started wit the base model, and this one was unarmed, with his hands raised up. I fit a knight in to his hand, and it was a match. With a slight curve to his fingers i was done with that. Next how to make it look like a tree. With some copper bell wire I took 3 strands and twisted them to make the limbs. To hide the core I coated the wire in PVA glue mixed with water putty. Durham's rock putty I use this stuff for every thing, like the bases. I just mixed a bit in till I could still paint the PVA on, but it would not drip off, or shrink.

With Tree the way I waned him i was time for paint, flock, leaves, and clear coat. Have a look.

Here is the Ent with one of it limbs cut off.

Little man I will rip you in two!!!!!!!

GorkaMorka

Try as I might, I can not get those dam Orks out of my blood. It is a total shame that GW pushed the Orks in the direction they are going today. The RT, 2ed Orks are what made me fall in love with the green skins in the first place, then they throw GorkaMorka in. When GM first was launched I had some 4k, to 5k worth of green skins for 2ed 40k, and this was a no brainier game for me. The day it was released I was on line in a real store with all my HeroTown bucks, and got the last copy they had. Went home and was in bliss. HeroTown bucks, were a way to keep you coming back to HeroTown. Spend $10 and you get 1 HT buck. I only paid I think $20. for GM as I was saving all my HT bucks for this game. This has to be my favorite GW product of all times, with 2nd 40k a very close second.

Whit that all said I have been, and still am nutz for any thing GM. So I got the bug again, and I stated that in my last post. So I have been on eBay every day trying to rebuild my collection. So far I have bid on a bunch of stuff, and even asked on forums for stuff. Well the first thing I got was an unopened box of the 6 plastic boyz, and then I just won a bid for a whole bunch of stuff. Now it is still in transit to me from the UK. In the lot is 2 trukks, 2 wartraks, 1 buggy, anout 20 plus boyz 1/2 metal, and a nice pile of bitz. I got all of that for $63.00 USD. Stuff I missed was the boxed game un-opened for $61.99, dam I was between buildings at work when the auction ended. and a bunch of other auctions. In the end I feel I got the bets deal, as I needed truks, and traks. The rest is just gravy form my collection.

But the bug has not left me and I am still on eBay every day looking for the right stuff.

So Now I also would like some bikes, and I can do a number of things to get them.

  1. Buy the new ones from GW (nah I am not a fan of them)
  2. Buy them from eBay (nah people hold them to a high price, and not worth it)
  3. Forgeworld bike, I can not afford them but I do love them.
  4. Ramshackel games has some but I need to convert.
  5. Kit bash.
I took option 5. Going through my bitz I came up with two strike cycles from ShockForce. I then found and Ork body, arms and got to work. I hacked off the shckforce dude at the midsection, filed it flat, and put the torso on. From here I added the pouches on each side by the hips. Now for the arms, and shoulder pads of green stuff. I added a spanner, and the ram skull for flare. Then lat an Ork head. I am really happy but the gun arm shoulder pad shrank on its self. I have to try and fix that. But tomorrow it will be ready for prim, and I have a second bike to work on next. I have to strip the paint off the Ork girls, and start converting them as well.

Here are the photos.

Legal notice: GW, GorkaMorka, Ork, Orks are TM of Games-Workshop, and I have not intention of copying, selling, or trading any thing GW. Bla Bla Bla.

Praetorian Mortar team!

Well I have two photos of my converted mortar team. I still have to flock the bases, but I am a bit strapped for time with the holidays in full swing.

I simply took the little drummer boy, and cut the drum off. Then with a plastic tube from a ball point pen and a bent paper clip I have Mcgivered a mortar team. I may add a third guy, and an ammo box on the base, but this is a good start.

Back at you Lucky Joe!!!!!

PS I should change the back drop to my light box.

The Brits have Arrived.

Well I got the Colonial British from Old Glory 15s the other day and got right to work on them last night. I started out with doing some conversions. Some of the conversion were simple weapon swaps, but I did not have 15mm weapons so converted them from old bitz. I broke out my 28mm bitz box and got to work.

First was a rock launcher. This conversion was done using the lance from a rough rider. I clipped it off added some green stuff to the ends. It was easy to remove the old gun, and replace with the new one. You can see him on the left, on the right is the same trooper with out the conversion.

Next is the Grenade launcher. Also next to an un-converted unit. This conversion used more from the same lance. Also very easy, and I like them so far.

Now for the flamer. I am not sure what this trooper was, as what he is holding is not a gun. This was also simple, cut up a 28mm flamer, remove the tank, and glue to the back of the trooper. Add a green stuff hose, and I am done.

So this morning I based all most all of them on the buttons, clipped the guns down, and filled the bases. I hope to prime later today, and get a few painted. For my next conversions I have some drummers I am going to remove the drum and base them with a mortar. I have also made a leader, and will photo him later as well.

One more thing I watched Zulu last night to help with the mind set for this project.
